FEATURE: 5 NEARBY ATTRACTIONS IN BACOLOD CITY


My list of attractions to visit in Negros, Philippines

Having a lot of Traveller friends from other provinces and at the metro, I have been always asked what are the attractions my city has to offer if they will visit. Yes, I will brag about food....and only food. I am proud to say that my city (Bacolod) is home to the finest and affordable foods you can have but natural attractions and landmarks..yeap we lack that.

So without further ado I present to you my list of my go-to places when I want to unwind for a day. These attractions are nearby Bacolod city and these places are really worth to the penny.

1. Don Salvador Benedicto


Don Salvador is the mountainous region in Negros Occidental. This place is best for photowalks, photoshoots, and having a break from the city life.

How to Get There: By car or by bus. It usually takes an 40min. to an hour to get here by car and 1hr. and 30min. by bus.
Price: (P500) Pay for transportation. Views are somehow free. Only pay for the food and cafes that you want to stop by to.
Travel Tip: The road has a lot of sharp curves and cliffs, just be careful. You can trek to Malatan-og falls if you want just ask the locals. You can also try the highest and longest zipline in the country here!

2. Lakawon Island


Lakawon Island is a resort island located in the far end of Cadiz City. It is currently popular for its Tawhai Floating Bar where in you can relax having a tan whilst drinking your favorite cocktail or iced cold beer. The island is known for its white sand beach and amenities. It is currently develop to look like those resorts found in Maldives so better hurry before its flooded with tourists soon.

How to Get There: By car or by bus. It usually takes an hour to get here by car and 1hr. and 30min. by bus.
Price: (P1500) Pay for transportation, resort fees, cottages, floating bar, and food.
Travel Tip: Renting a car is a better option than opting for public transportation. There is a disappearing sand bar at the back end of the resort..search for it! :)

3. Mambukal Resort



Yeap! This is my favorite go-to among the list that I am sharing to you. It is because of the natural attractions it offer. This resort is a mountain resort which has 7 waterfalls to hike to, a hot spring to relax to, a boiling mud to discover to, and a lagoon to unwind to.

How to Get There: By car or by bus. It usually takes an hour to get here by car or by bus.
Price: (P500) Pay for transportation, resort fees, and food.
Travel Tip: Try hiking the seven waterfalls to test your adventure skills. After hiking the waterfalls dip yourself into the famous hotspring and be relaxed. Renting a cottage is usually not an option since there are a lot of attractions to visit to (there's always the canteen where seats are free).




4. Campuestohan Resort


Campuestohan Resort is a mountain resort that is known for its cartoon theme amenities. If you want to feel the cool breeze of the mountains whilst having a dip in the wide pool, this is a go-to. This is a resort which is good for the family, kids, and big barkadas who want adventure in just one place.

How to Get There: By car or by bus. It usually takes 40min, to get here by car or by bus.
Price: (P1500) Pay for transportation, resort fees, and food.
Travel Tip: Try climbing the king kong statue. Try finishing the rope course challenge, and the zipline, and watch the clouds hover your head when they pass by from the mountains.

5. Ruins

Ruins is the famous landmark in the neighboring city of Bacolod which is Talisay city. It is famous for its glamorous and Spanish ambiance where in you can take photos to and and have a good cup of coffee.

How to Get There: By car or by bus. It usually takes 20min, to get here by car or by bus.
Price: (P300) Pay for transportation, resort fees, and food.
Travel Tip: Join the mini tour of the Ruins to know the story of the mansion the family who owned it. It is better to go at night to see and feel its majestic vibe.
